Samuel I. Hayakawa

1906 - 1992

Educator, linguist, politician, and semanticist; president of San Francisco State College (1969-1973), Senator (R-Cal) (1977-1983). Born in Canada of Japanese parents, Hayakawa was raised speaking Japanese.


Only an idiot would be against speaking two languages. I'm against bilingual education.
