Harold E. Stassen
1907 -

Former governor of Minnesota who held several positions in U.S. President Eisenhower's cabinet, signator of the United Nations Charter, president of the University of Pennsylvania (1948-1953), author of Eisenhower: Turning Toward World Peace (1990). Stassen may be best remembered for persistence in his dream to become the president of the U.S. He first campaigned for the Republican nomination in 1948, losing to Thomas Dewey, and threw his hat in the ring eight more times in subsequent presidential nomination years, the last in 1992.
