Robert Goddard
1882 - 1945

Inventor, professor of physics at Clark University. Goddard is considered the father of modern rocketry for his pioneering work in creating liquid-fueled rockets, the first of which flew in 1921. His ideas about rocketry and the space travel they would enable were undervalued, and even ridiculed, until German scientists drew from his designs to create the V-2 rockets they used during World War II.


It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.
