Sir Anthony Eden
1897 - 1977

British statesman, First Earl of Eden. Foreign secretary to prime ministers Ramsay MacDonald, Stanley Baldwin, and Winston Churchill, Eden became prime minister himself upon Churchill's retirement in 1955. He was responsible for Britain's occupation of the Suez Canal in November, 1956, which led to international condemnation and his resignation in January, 1957.
